Dear John.
After his meeting with my Secretary of State on 10 December the Governor of Hong Kong asked if he could have a copy of the record. I enclose three copies, one for you, one for the Governor and one (if you have no objection) for the Hong Kong Government Office in London. Could you please see these on their way?
2 Last week the Governor also saw my Permanent Secretary, Sir Peter Thornton, but with one exception no new points came up and no record was made. The one exception is that the Governor asked if we could approach the Duke of Kent (in his capacity as Vice-Chairman of the British Overseas Trade Board) in support of the request that he should speak at the Hong Kong Association dinner on 23 June 1977. The Private Secretary to the Chairman of the BOTB has since written to the Duke's Secretary.

I am sending a copy of this letter and of the enclosure to Tim Kinnear in the British Trade Commission, Hong Kong.
Yours sincerel
Christopher Pants
