Dear Hen, Alan

I enclose a photostat of a letter from Gordon Burrows of the Centre for International Briefing which indicates he will be in Hong Kong from 6 - 10 May.

2.

I expect you know that the Centre is used by business firms and by Government departments, particularly the ODM, because they run orientation courses for people going abroad on posting for the first time. Members of this Department, and FED, try to get down to Farnham Castle two or three times a year to help out and generally find the courses well managed.

3.

In the circumstances, I hope you won't mind my having given him your name as someone to contact while in Hong Kong in the hope that you can help him bring himself up to date on matters affecting the Colony. I am, of course, well aware that he will be there in the week after the Secretary of State's visit but anything you can do will, I am sure, be welcome. On the course that I lectured at there were a number of people going to Hong Kong and doubtless he will have plenty of other contacts: but a briefing on political matters from you will certainly be appreciated.
