JAPAN, CHINA AND HONG KONG ASSOCIATIONS: PROPOSED INVITATION TO THE PUS

Mr Cortazzi, on his return from the Far East, has asked the Department to let you have an acknowledgement of
Sir M MacLehose's letter of 29 April in which he encouraged the PUS to accept a possible invitation from the Japan, China and Hong Kong Associations to attend a working lunch with some of
their members. The PUS has already indicated that he has no objection to this idea.
2. I submit a draft reply to the Governor of Hong Kong's letter along lines suggested by Mr Cortazzi.
