HONG KONG: THE GOVERNOR'S STATEMENT TO THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
In my minute of 8 October, with which I submitted the text of the Governor's statement to the Legislative Council on 6 October,
1.
I said that the Governor's Private Secretary had told me that Sir Murray MacLehose had sent a copy of his statement to Lord Goronwy-Roberts under cover of a personal letter.

2. Lord Goronwy-Roberts' Office have now shown the department

the Governor's letter and a short note that the Minister of State has sent in reply. I attach copies of the correspondence (the side- lining and underlining on the Governor's letter is my own).
