available the necessary financial resources for implementing the programmes in question. I think it would be useful, therefore, if you were to be rbroadly familiar with the relevant papers. I have suggested to Mr Cortazzi that your Department should be represented at these meetings of the Standing Committee at which subjects of interest to you are down for discussion. The next meeting of the Committee should be held in February, probably shortly after the Financial Secretary has announced the 1977/78 Budget. That meeting of the Standing Committee might well be one at which we would be glad to have a representative of FRD present. I shall contact you again sometime before the meeting.
