11. The Exchange of Information and Training Aids

It was reported that following the airing of this matter at last year's conference the flow of information to Hong Kong had greatly improved. It was pointed out nevertheless that there was still room for improvement in the passage of information throughout the FE Region and participants agreed to re-examine their arrangements in order to ensure that intelligence and published training aids reached all concerned.

12. The Improvement of Regional Co-Operation

It was clearly desirable for the Malaysians to be fully involved in anti-narcotic law enforcement in the region and they were anxious to co-operate. It was agreed that co-operation could be developed through the agencies of the Interpol and (when appointed) the UÑ Regional Adviser.

13. Use of Chinese Commercial Code

It was proposed that in order to ensure a positive identification the Chinese Commercial Code should always be used to describe Chinese names. This required a knowledge of Chinese characters which indicated a need for officers involved to receive instruction. It was pointed out that the present level of Chinese activity in the UK did not warrant the special training of officers to use the code but it was agreed that the possibility should be borne in mind.

14. Future Meetings

It was agreed to review the need for another meeting of the group when those who would be concerned met at the meeting of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Geneva next year.
