PAYMENT FOR FRIGATES OFF SOUTH VIETNAM
1. I have now been told by Mr Kelly, Finance Adviser in MOD, that MOD do not propose to charge the FCO for the expenses incurred in stationing a series of frigates off the coast of Vietnam in April.
2. This is good news. Mr Kelly warned me that MOD might wish to send us a bill in connection with the use of British ships in taking refugees from Vietnam to Hong Kong and Singapore; but that is a different question.
