On or about 20.5.1962 he came to Hong Kong illegally.
lle received 41⁄2 years' primary education (from 1948 to 1953) in Chiu Chau, China.
From June, 1962 to about March, 1968 he worked as a factory worker at the Wing Nam Textile Factory, Tai Shing Mansion, Wing Lung Street, Castle Feek Road which had been moved out. He left his employment because of overwork and underpay.

From 1968 to 1969 he earned his living as a hawker in Yue Han Square, Kwun Tong.
From 1969 to 30.12.1972 he together with his friend IA Chi-sung ran the Chun Fat Fashion Co. at No. 89-E, Fu Tan Street 7th floor. From 1.1.1973 to August, 1973 he hawks fruit in Yue Man Square.
