The Prisoner was said to have no undesirable associates since he was not known to have indulged in vice of any form. He was said to have no relation with triad elements too. Their relatives, neighbours and some fellow fruit hawkers are his main associates.

The Prisoner was a very dominant husband and she was not allowed to interfere with his own personal affairs. When he was in good mood, he gave her $10 daily as family expenses, or otherwise he only gave home à few dollars only everyday. He had also bad temper and sometimes beat her up and the children. He was also an over-suspicious man and often accused her of having extra-marital affairs.
He was a heavy cigarette-smoker, but he took only little wine and he did not like gambling of any sort. She had never heard about any serious grudge between her husband and other people before this offence.
2. Mr. FONG Hing-shui, aged 67 (Adoptive father of the Prisoner)
He is the younger brother of the Prisoner's late father. Having no children of his own, he adopted the Prisoner as his son at his early childhood. Hé used to rear pigs in the New Territories until 1970 when he ceased rearing pigs and gave the Prisoner the capital to start the embroidery workshop. He did not give any remark on the Prisoner's general character and his marital relationship with the excuse that he had not lived with the Prisoner's family in the past years. He however stated that the Prisoner was very keen in his business and he had no undesirable habits at all. He said that the Prisoner might have certain conflicts with other fruit hawkers in Yu Man Square because of the inevitable competition in their hawking business, and he believed that this might have some bearing to the present offence.
3. Mr. LAM Chi-tsung, aged 49
(Uncle of the Prisoner's wife, residing

Mr. Lam is a fruit hawker in Tsimshatsui. He said that the Prisoner was stubborn and bad-tempered, and sometimes quarrelled with his wife because he disliked his wife give remittance to her father in China. Apart from taking some wine and smoking cigarettes, the Prisoner had no other habits. He had no idea about the causes of the offence.
4. Two fruit hawkers at Yu Man Square Kwun Tong
