HONG KONG STATISTICS ON DEATH SENTENCES

1.

Since 1960 90 persons have been convicted of murder and sentenced to death. 14 were executed and the sentences on the remainder (76) were commuted. The last execution was in November 1966.

2. The sentences imposed on commutation of the death penalty were as follows:

During the same period 340 persons were convicted of manslaughter most of whom were charged with murder.

Details of sentences in lieu of the death penalty imposed and actually served are attached. Dates refer to the year the prisoner was first admitted into prison and not necessarily to the year the sentence was commuted.
