A. GENERAL INFORMATION

The Prisoner was born in Hong Kong on 18th March, 1952 with birht certificate No. 4588 N.R. and identity card No. A983453. He was brought up in a large family with steady income of more than $2,000 a month. He is the 3rd child in a family of 6 children. His father has been a carpenter on board the ship for many years while the mother is a labourer. The father received very little education while the mother is an illiterate.

The Prisoner received 5 years of education, standard up to primary 5. He gave up schooling at his early teens due to lack of interest. When he first came out to work he worked with his father for about 4 years. Sometime in 1967 he had kidney trouble which lasted for several years, and had been admitted to hospitals several times, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 1967, at a hospital in Macau in 1968, Kwong Wah Hospital in 1971. He had fully recovered 2 years

ago.

It was learnt that the Prsioner had no undesirable habit. He liked bowling, swimming and football. He frequented bowling centres with friends and sometimes with siblings. Apart from working with his father as an apprentice in carpentry he had been a lorry driver and owner and a metal worker. Before the offence he was working at Bowrington and Partners under the employ of Mr. Diamond Leung earning around $25 a day. When employed he used to take meals outside. It was also leamt that he sometimes would go to night clubs and dance halls with friends. According to his employer, Mr. Diamond Leung, the Prisoner used to spend money carelessly, especially on pleasure and amusements. His reckless behaviour was attributed to the influence of his bad associates and his care free character.

MAN Yin, 47, a labourer at construction site earning $45 a day, she works around 20 days a month.
