The Commissioner has also asked if Mr Ellis could be reminded that the Commission, in law, must confine itself to investigating allegations of corruption; and that the Commissioner made it clear before the start of the recent investigation that the Commission could not legally concern itself with any administrative aspects of Mr Ellis's case.
In all the circumstances, I see no cause to question the Commissioner's view that, on the basis of the case produced by Mr Ellis, there would be no advantage in his going out to Hong Kong or in investigating this matter further.
