Entertainment is not an advantage as defined in the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (Cap. 201), and the acceptance by an officer of entertainment, such as a meal, is not therefore, prohibited by the Ordinance. This does not mean, however, that an officer is free to accept lavish or unreasonably generous or frequent entertainment, or indeed any entertainment which could embarrass him in the discharge of his duties. An officer who accepts entertainment otherwise than in accordance with Establishment Regulations 490-494 as set out at Appendix III will render himself liable to disciplinary proceedings.
