I am replying to your letter of the 9th June. 'No reply was sent to your letter of the 11th May because it did not secu to me that any reply was called for : it had merely put forward another version of what this girl told her parents. Incidentally I did not assert that she had named the man as the person who had raped her in order to induce her parents to allow her to marry him; I vas simply recording what appears in the Police Report made at that time.
The only observation I have to make on your letter of the Al June is that I am not prepared to treat as confidential in the sense of not informing the proper authorities information · communicated to mo by a member of the public unless I have specifically agreed so to do before the communication is made.
