There does not appear to be any Foundation for a suggestion that the inspector who interviewed Mr. CHAM about the killing
"gave all the details of the murder“, if by this Hrs. Elliott implies that the inspector dictated the contents of the
statement to #r. CHAN.
Mr. CHÂN. The inspector obviously knew some of the main facts of the case as a result of the earlier police investigation. Right at the beginning of the interview the inspector explained broadly to Mr. CHÂN the crime into which he was inquiring. Kr. CHAN himself said, when intervieved in the presence of his legal advisers, that he made up the whole story in his statement, basing it on what the inspector and other police officers had told him of the circumstances. He
also said that the inspector did not know that he was inventing the story. A substantial part of the statement was written by Fr. CHAN himself,
Kr. CHAN does not suggest that his signatures
