"He had pulled some diabolical strokes in his time deported Chinese being robbed of the five dollar Government grant by other Chinese, he confesses, once forced a Communist suspect to eat his little red book ("the little bastard had trouble getting down the plastic cover," he recalls) and ignored other crimes, but he also proved his ability and his courage in a border incident with a Red
Chinese militia officer. It is thoroughly documented.
On October 12 1967.
led a successful kidnap plot and
snatched the Communist captain right under the eyes of a machine-gun
post.
He describes the incident in graphic detail.
"This little swaggering militiaman used to be in the habit of coming over to British territory for tea in the morning, swanking and generally
giving us a hard time,
Well, the Communist then had several of our men in captivity, including a police inspector called Frank Knight, and the word came down that we should grab one of theirs and do a swop.

There was a tea house near the border and this militiaman always went there so we drove up in a grocery delivery van to fool any guards watching from the other side and waited for this little twit.
