further amendments could be resisted and that the Unofficial

Members could be relied upon to respect the confidential

nature of the Memorandum.

7. Summing-up the discussion, the Minister of State said

that he would be prepared to minute the Prime Minister that

afternoon, reporting the result of the negotiations and the difficulty of making an announcement until the question of import controls was resolved. He would hope to get a

reply early the following Monday, and it was agreed that

the Governor should call again on the Monday afternoon

to learn the outcome.
