Joint Secretaries

The sub-committee made the following planning assumptions:

Maintenance of Operations in HMS TAMAR. Continuous operation and support of the Hong Kong Squadron and Service Water Transport from HMS TAMAR is to be maintained throughout the whole period.

b.

Land Area. It will not be acceptable to Hong Kong Government for any in- crease to be made to the area now occupied by HMS TAMAR. However, improved ac- cess to the Central District road system will be necessary.

c.

Deep Water Berths. New construction within the perimeter of HS TAMAR is not to prejudice the alongside deep water berthing facilities currently avail- able for the use of visiting ships.

a.

Building.

Planning should not preclude:

(1) Knocking down what is old and outdated in HMS TAMAR or moving what is

now in Tamar elsewhere.
