We hold about 1,300 married quarter hirings for the 3 Services as
follows:

6. It is not yet clear what the precise effect of the Defence Review will be on the number of hirings but there will be a reduction of over 50% of the above total figure as a result of strength reductions next year and current estimates forecast long-term holdings in the region of 600 married quarter
hirings.

Responsibility for management of the MOD Estate in Hong Kong rests with the Regional Director PSA/DOE through his Regional Estate Surveyor (Defence). In early 1976 the functions of the RES(D) will merge with those of the RES (F & CO) and thereafter the work will be carried out by a single RES whose
duties will combine both functions.
