naval base facilities for Fleet units visiting Hong Kong
and for the entry, training, service conditions and drafting
of locally enlisted personnel for service in HM Ships and
RFAS. He is responsible to CINCFLEET for, inter alia, the
protection of British shipping off the China coast, the
administration and support of RN ships permanently based in
Hong Kong and for the local administration and support of
ships temporarily deployed to Hong Kong.

The present Hong Kong Squadron consists of one modified
Type 61 frigate (HMS CHICHESTER) and five patrol craft
(modified TON class coastal mine-sweepers).
