(3) In estimating the numbers of personnel
A
in 20 Lt Regt RA who will be returning to UK, the establishment of the independent light
battery remaining has been estimated at 140
all ranks (ie worst case for movement planning purposes).
Our estimates of the numbers of personnel returning to UK each month are based on the number of posts to be
cut and a statistical estimate of the number of associated
dependants. Some refinement of these figures has been made by taking actual strengths (including dependants) as at present, but for 20 Lt Regt RA more accurate
fic gures will not be known until the establishment of
the light independent battery is confirmed. Other
factors which will affect the final count, and are being resolved as planning continues, are:

(1) The identification of individuals due to RHE earlier than the withdrawal period and who need not be replaced.
(2) The wishes of families on possible earlier RHE than husbands because of the timing of school
terms etc.
The proposed outline withdrawal plan of personnel, showing estimated numbers returning to UK each month,
is at Annex B.
Freight. In addition to the requirement for Service shipping, increased use will need to be made of normal commercial methods for the return to the UK of unaccompanied baggage and some general stores.
