117 Signals Unit. It is intended to disband this unit; however a small part of its function is to provide a radar picture for civil air traffic control, at Kai Tak. The handing over of this facility must depend on the outcome of current negotiations but it is assumed that while the bulk of 117 SU could begin disbandment in July 1975, approximately 1 officer and 25 airmen may have to continue operating the radar until at least
March 1976.
b. Air Trooping. Until the questions of the method of trooping between UK and Hong Kong and the future of the Gurkha airlift have been resolved the number of movements staff necessary to handle service passengers and freight cannot be determined.
15. Manpower. The maximum numbers of withdrawals or reductions assuming that 117 SU was entirely disbanded, alternative air trooping was by charter and no facilities need be provided for visiting aircraft would be:

17. Personnel
a.
The timing of the movement of personnel has been dictated by the availability of seats on RAF transport aircraft. In estimating the number of seats required each month, it has been assumed that:
(1) Dependants will wish to travel back to UK with husbands.
(2)
Some thinning out' will be possible prior to the withdrawal period January to March 1976 using normal trooping flights.
