Mr Jackson, Defence Dept.

HONG KONG: 117 SIGNALS UNIT

Since you

1. I have tried to steer a middle course in this draft. have recently spoken on the matter to both Mr Davies and Mr Robson, I should be very grateful for your comments. In particular, I am concerned at our continuing inability to give the assurance, requested by Hong Kong in their telno 305, that the RAF will continue to operate the Tai Mo Shan radar for ATC purposes until (at least) 1 April next year.

2. It might help to avoid further misunderstanding if the letter could be copied to MoD, in which case some amendments would probably be necessary.

3. I should be glad to come and discuss at any time that would be convenient to you early next week.
