The reorganisation of the garrison will not be complete until 1977/78 when the fourth Gurkha Battalion is planned to replace one of the two UK battalions. Additional costs in 1976/77 arising from this amount to about £3M which are not included in the Army costs shown above.
The cost of the frigate refit in 1977/78 (£2.51) has been spread equally over the 5 years 1976/77 - 1980/81.
The Navy figure excludes a share of the capital cost of new patrol craft, which are still under examination. These costs could be in the region of £5-10M spread equally over a 5 year period.
