apologized on behalf of the Polytechnic for the
breakdown in the established procedures during the
last few months. This was due to a number of factors
including (a) urgent action to interview prospective
candidates for head of department posts because of
the long periods for which some acting heads had
been taking responsibility (b) the concentration of
staff on formulating the academic development plan
(c) changes in staff.
It was affirmed that the agreed procedure would be
followed in future, the following comments being made
by the Polytechnic in the light of experience:
