HONG KONG AND THE APPLICATION OF INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONVENTIONS
1. You will recall the Secretary of State's direction earlier this year that there should be a periodic review of the extent to which International Labour Conventions were being applied in Hong Kong. Secretary of State also deputed Lord Goronwy-Robertɛ as the responsible Minister for this exercise.

2. As it happens, the Overseas Labour Consultative Committee is meeting on 30 January 1976 and will have on its agenda an item relating to Hong Kong. In these circumstances, it would be helpful to have a report on the present position as at 31 December 1975 which could be seen by the Minister of State early in January and, if he approves, later circulated to members of the OLCC.
