Dear Mr Stewart
I have only now got around to replying to your letter of 21 November about Hong Kong. And my reply is merely to say that I have nothing to sey. The Chemicals and Textiles Division of the Department of Industry has no responsibility for labour conditions in Hong Kong and no voice whatsoever in determining
We are Hong Kong's policies on trade, labour conditions etc. merely the unfortunate Division that sponsors the unfortunate UK industry (textiles and clothing) that has to put up with the results of Hong Kong policies on trade, labour conditions ctc, whatever they happen to be. But I shall be most interested to see whatever Messrs Wright and O'Keefe have to say,
Yours sincerely
LL Lowme (Miss)
