EXPENDITURE COMMITTEE DEASC - VISIT TO HONG KONG

As you will see the bvember, then returning I would be grateful for
1. I attach a copy of a letter from the Clark to the Defence and External Affairs Sub Committee of the Expenditure Committee. Sub-Committee wish to visit Hong Kong for 4 days in to the UK via Singapore, Diego Garsia and Nasirah. agreement in principle to the visit taking place so that preparation of an itinerary and an outline programme can begin.
2. There are no spoolfie D100 points of interest so far discornible bub sone may be expected to emerge in the course of planning the trip.
3. F1 (N) will arrange for Car Hong Kong and the. Commanders involved to be briefed on what the DEASC's terms of reference are, their relationship with the MOD and the Services, methods and procedures in dealing with them, and
The 50 03. The MOD Liaison Officer will accompany the DHASC throughout. party will travel by civil airlines (as far as they go).
4. I have seen D/DS11/6/10/8 of 7 March 1975 about the practical problers of MPs visiting Diego Garcia: I an assuring for the present that the possibility of the DIASC visiting Diego Camela could not be discussed with the Americans before the next round of consultations in May but I should be grateful if this particular proposal for a DESC visit could be raised with them then.
