The Hong Kong Trade Development Council
is holding a presentation in connection with the Pret-a-porter on the evening of Sunday, 6th April, in the Pavillon de l'Alcazar d'Ete, in Avenue Gabriel.
Squeak and I would like to accompany
the Hong Kong team for this.
With my own strong support and with the help and encouragement of the excellent French Consul General here, Francois Geoffroy-Dechaume, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council has been trying to establish personal contacts in Paris. A group led by the Chairman, Sir Yuet-keung Kan, called on the C.N.P.F., the Adviser to the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for External Trade, and the Minister for External Trade in the summer. The latter is probably visiting Hong Kong in May. If you would see no objection I would like to help this process along by calling on him and indeed on anyone else you think would be useful on Monday, 7th April, to talk about the possibilities for developing two-way trade between Hong Kong and France.
This is all rather a long way ahead, but if you would confirm that you see no objection, and hopefully that you approve, we could fix up the details nearer the time.
I am sending a copy of this letter to
Duncan Watson in the F.C.O.
