The Reform Club feels that the only way internally to beat inflation is to provide work and it is utterly against a reduction in spending if as a result more people are unemployed.

The Reform Club is most concerned with regard to the continued "Floating" of the H. K. Dollars. It is known for many years that the survival of Hong Kong depends mainly on Export trade which is now under strong competition from other neighbouring countries in Asia.

Since the Government's policy of "Floating" the H. K. Dollars came into effect, it is reported by many of our Exporters and Manufacturers that this gives them another additional handicap in bergaining prices with foreign Importers. In order to give our Manufacturers and Exporters a better chance to sell more of our locally manufactured products, it is considered of utmost importance if the Financial Secretary will make a positive decision on fixing the parity of the Hong Kong Dollars as soon as possible.

The Reform Club supports a recent compaign struggling for recognition of the Non-British Commonwealth Medical graduates in Hong Kong. We thirk it a disgrace when Hong Kong is so short of qualified doctors to waste so much wealth of telent. These graduates are from China, Teiwan, Japan, Germany, Indonesia and other countries and amongst them there are specialists from the brain to the skin of one's feet; paediatrics, gyaecology, psychology, optical and some other fields. At present, these trained graduates in medicines are not allowed to practise and not even allowed to sit a qualifying examination to enable them to put their skill to the test and to help in solving one of the great problems in Hong Kong.
