A recent White Paper set out the Hong Kong Government's plans for the development of secondary education over the next decade. Its immediate aim is to provide, by 1979, nine years' education for all children up to the age of fourteen. A second objective is the provision by 1979 of sufficient secondary places in the public sector for 40% of the 15-16 age group.
NARCOTICS

The Hong Kong Government have recently taken steps to intensify the drive against drug addiction and to improve treatment and rehabilitation .services. There is close
cooperation in the international field. Over the past few months the Royal Hong Kong Police Narcotics Bureau have had considerable success in seizing large drug consignments, and several drug syndicates have been broken up or disrupted.
