LABOUR PARTY INTERNATIONAL COMMITT

The following were the major decisions taken by the Labour Party International Committee this morning.

1. The Committee decided that I would be

invited to attend all future meetings to ensure close liaison between the Committee

and the FCO. Mr Mikardo stated that he

hoped that my presence would not be seen as a substitute for your own attendance at the meetings when Ministerial duties permitted.

It was decided not to send anyone to the European Security Meeting which the Finnish Party is hosting in Helsinki.

The Committee was informed that the Prime Minister had asked Mr Fred Mulley to

represent him at the Party Leaders' Conference to be held in West Berlin on 20 February. Following the Party Leaders' Conference thor will be a meeting of the Bureau of the International, and on the proposal of the General Secretary it was agreed that during this meeting Mr Alex Kitson and Miss Jenny Little would visit Mast Berlin for talks

with GDR trade unionists.

The Committee also agreed to the General Secretary accepting an invitation from the GDR Government to visit East Berlin on the
