We had made representations on the political prisoners issue. renewed representations subsequently. There was evidence that this had had some results, though he could not go into individual cases. His initial feeling was that cutting off aid would not help. He would be seeing Mr Whitlam at Kingston shortly and would talk over the whole matter with him there and let the delegation know the outcome.

Mr Mikardo at about once every six weeks, which wasn't bad. said they had absolutely no complaints on that score.
