It will not now prove practicable for The Queen to bring the Royal Yacht to Japan since Britannia will be required in Jamaica for the meeting of Commonwealth
Governments at the beginning of May.

2. Dates now proposed for the Sate Visit to Japan are
Wednesday 7 May to Monday 12 May or Tuesday 13 May. Palace hope you can keep exact departure date open for the
time being.
3. For your own information it is proposed that en route
from Jamaica to Japan The Queen should visit Hong Kong.
This visit will not be announced until considerably nearer
the time.
Tokyo is about 4 hours
