HONG KONG: CFA PURCHASE OF AIRCRAFT
1. DTI have confirmed that there is no Hong Kong Government equity in CFA. It is owned by Swires it is as majority shareholders (60%), Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank (25%) and BOAC (15%).
2. CRE2 were not consulted by their colleagues in Civil Aviation 2 and disagree with the line taken. CRE2 agree with our view that any decision to purchase wide bodied aircraft must be made by CPA on commercial grounds and that it is improper to try and bring in the Governor. They are putting this forcibly to CA2, and that the latter should not have taken action without consulting CRE2 and ourselves.
