(ii) The recommendation for a third training school is strongly recommended; planning ratios said to be unrealis- ticly low. There is some strong objection expressed to the proposed relaxation of the requirement for two science subjects; an alternative suggestion is that Govt. should, if necessary, recruit more Enrolled Nurses of whom there is a lower wastage rate. Suggestions to overcome any possible difficulties of recruitment are that the Chinese language be used in training, and that the conditions of service be kept under constant review so that salaries are adequate. It is also recommended that married nurses be employed on a part-time basis, parti- cularly in Govt. clinics and start the district nursing. The recommendation that increments be awarded for approved post- registration qualifications and for approved previous experience is supported as a measure to reduce wastage. With the same objective it is proposed that there should be promotion posts in clinical, administrative and specialist arcas where nurses are employed. Better post-basic training is seen as an aspect which will encourage nurses to remain in H.K. and a training college or suitable courses with the universities are suggested. The situation concerning psy- chiatric nurses is viewed with concern and augmentation of the training facilities is considered to be urgent.

CHAPTER VIII - School dental care
(i) This chapter deals with a school dental care service stemming from which a recommendation is made that a school be established to produce dental nurses as a first step towards giving dental care to school children.
(ii) The recommendation is favoured but comments made call for training to begin before completion of the proposed building and the need for only 12 dental officers is said to be possibly on the low side.

CHAPTER IX - Dentists required by 1982
(i) This chapter proposed a dental school starting with a pre-clinical intake of at least 40 and with an annual output of about 60 dentists from 1980 onwards.
(ii) The need for this school is generally agreed with it being urged that immediate plans be made to establish a dental school. Ono organization calls for an attached dental hospital. A general dental service similar to the general medical service is called for and consequently for the number of dentists to be increased. In one comment a recommendation is made that a dental faculty should bo es- tablished at the Chinesc University with 100 students being trained each year. This person points out that if only university dentists are considered the ratio is alarming 1:18000.
(iii) The ratio for the private sector is questioned in relation to the apparent ratio in the Govt. service.
