A.C.A.N. and its Sub-Committees were serviced originally by an Assistant Secretary in the Secretariat for Chinese Affairs. At the present time this duty is undertaken by a small Narcotics Division within the Secretariat for Home Affairs consisting of five officers together with a secretarial/clerical staff of four. Included in the duties of the Narcotics Division is the compilation of the Central Register of Drug Addicts, a project sponsored by A.C.A.N.

The expenses of A.C.A.N., amounting to $275,800 for the financial year 1972/73 are carried within the annually recurrent vote of the Secretariat for Home Affairs. Nearly all this money is spent on anti-drug education and publicity.
