I have the honour to inform you that at the invitation of the Government of Indonesia the Central Training Unit of the United Nations Division of Narcotic Drugs intends to hold a training seminar in the control of drugs of abuse for law enforcement officials in South East Asia. It will be held in Djakarta from 3 to 22 June 1974.
The syllabus will cover the following subjects:
The problems created by drug addiction and abuse. The production and distribution of drugs for illicit
use.
Policies for the control of drug abuse and drug trafficking.
Appropriate law enforcement organization and investigation techniques.
International co-operation in law enforcement.
In addition to law enforcement experts from the Division of Narcotic Drugs, it is expected that specialists on chemistry, pharmacology and upon the social effects of drug abuse (especially among young people), as well as representatives of ICPO/Interpol and of the International Narcotics Control Board, will attend as lecturers and discussion leaders.
Participants in the seminar will come from the following countries/

Republic of Korea Malaysia Philippines
Singapore Sri Lanka Thailand
An invitation to nominate participants has also been sent to the Republic
of Viet-Nam.
