HONG KONG : DISTRICT JUDGES

1.

2.

Please see the attached letter from the Chief Justice of Hong Kong.

The District Court in Hong Kong has quite substantial civil and criminal jurisdiction (I believe the law has recently been amended to enable the court to award sentences of up to seven years imprisonment), and if it were desired in Hong Kong to arrange for District Judges to be styled "His Honour Judge So-and-so", and addressed in court as "Your Honour", on the analogy of County Court judges in this country, I doubt if we need object.

3.

I am not familiar with the Table of Precedence, but I imagine that if the Governor wishes to include the District Judges at a suitable point, this, could be arranged.
