Insert after " judge" in (1), (2) and (3) the following

(a) The proposed amendment to section 5 falls
into the second class. It is a change which should have been made long ago.
(b) The proposed amendments to section 6
are straightforward and implement the decision to raise the retiring age of the District Judges.h cent
(c) The amendments to section 8 are necessary
in consequence of the raising of the retiring age and of the new security of tenure to be conferred on the District Judges.
(d) while looking into these matters,
we
have discovered a gap in the Pensions Ordinance, which makes no provision for the grant of a pension to a judge who is removed from office under the Letters Patent. Removal thereunder might, depending on the circumstances, be the equivalent of compulsory retire- ment, so that the grant of a pension might be appropriate. Section 7 of the Pensions Ordinance would not apply and we recommend the addition to the Ordinance of the new section 7A..
Colonial Regulations. It is proposed that the following be added to Colonial Regulation 54 as paragraph (6):-.
