Your Excellency,

ale

We are members of Amnesty International in Germany and have the honour in writing to you.

We refer to the 110 South Vietnamese deported from Hongkong to Saigon on June 17, 1974, despite Amnesty International's intervention. As we are still deeply concerned about these unfortunate people and as we have strong reasons to believe that they are not too well treated, we take the liberty to draw your attention to the assurances given by the South Viet- nam Government that those deported people would not be severe- ly dealt with, and, we feel that the High Authorities should ensure that those assurances are honoured.

Especially, we would like to draw your attention to the case

of

Mrs. Cheng Po Dung alias Trinh Dung and her daughter aged about 5 years

who are at present detained at the Con Son Rehabilitation Centre at Con Son, South Vietnam.

The decision by the Hongkong Government was especially hard on her and the child as she only wanted to join her husband, who is of Chinese nationality and living in Hongkong. She never made herself guilty of anything else, just was never allowed an emmigration visa by the Vietnamese authorities in order to leave the country legally and join her husband, despite also her husband's earlier efforts for a visa.

Therefore, we venture to hope that Your Excellency will give your special attention to this matter and exert all your power to bring about the release of this woman and her daughter andhelp them to immigrate to Hongkong. Or, please, let us know what else there could be done from our side in this case.

Thanking you, we remain,

Yours respectfully,

Selance Reisfor
