instance, the Psychiatrist is unable to determine at what speed the illness developed.
This answer from the specialist also deals with the point raised at 3A (2 ) as to whether it could have been detected before. In fact, in some instances, according to the Psychiatrist, there may not be any apparent symptoms before the collapse of the patient.
In response to paragraph 3B, it can be said that the last occasion on which Mr. Howell was examined by the Chief Medical Officer of the Metropolitan Police was on 4th December 1964 when he was seen at the Chest Clinic following a severe attack of pneumonia. He was then cleared as medically fit with no apparent disease of the chest. There is nothing in this officer's medical record anywhere to indicate previous symptoms or complaints of stress or strain.
