211. During the year 1972-73, the Section dealt with 217 cases of this nature involving 450 documents. Identifications were achieved in 45 cases.

Ballistics Office

212. The year was reasonably busy for this Office with a wide diversity of operations. The following arms were seized:

214. In all cases of shooting whether crime, Police or Commerce and Industry, clothing was examined as required in relation to bullet entry and exit holes and combustion residue.

215. Assistance was given to the Labour Department at their request in relation to four industrial accidents, three fatal, where power-operated tools were involved. Reports were made as to the operative condition of the tools concerned.

. The Department of Forensic Pathology

216. The Department of Forensic Pathology consists of a main laboratory in Police Headquarters, Hong Kong, and another laboratory in the Mongkok police station, Kowloon. It deals mainly with the medico-legal work in close association with the Royal Hong Kong Police Force.

Drug Disposal Unit

218. During the year, the Unit received 11,356 items for disposal. Drugs destroyed during the year included 387.0 kilos of raw opium (dross) and prepared opium, more than 40 kilos of heroin, 22.34 kilos of barbitone and more than 17.4 kilos of cannabis and cannabis resin. A large quantity of drug manufacturing and smoking equip- ment was also received.
