This report deals with the arrest of
Peter Fitzroy GODBER, born 7th April 1922, an ex-police officer of The Cottage, Iden Lock, near Rye, Sussex.
Godber was arrested on the 29th April 1974 at his home by me on a warrant granted at Bow Street Magistrates' Court that day. He was taken to Bow Street Police Station where he was charged as follows :-

sitting at Bow Street Magistrates'
Court on the 29th April 1974 there being evidence that Peter Fitzroy GODBER is accused of bribery against the law of Hong Kong.
The circumstances of the offence for which
the warrant was granted are as follows :-
Godber being a member of the Royal Hong Kong Police Force in March 1971 at Wanchai Police Station (Hong Kong) did corruptly receive for himself the sum of 25,000 Hong Kong dollars from

fee or reward or otherwise on account of his having assisted the said
in obtaining an appointment as Divisional Superintendent of the Wanchai Division of the said Royal Hong Kong Police Force, a matter in which the said Royal Hong Kong Police Force was concerned, contrary to Section 3 of the Prevention of Corruption Ordinance (Chapter 215 Revised Edition 1950 as amended as in force at the aforesaid time).
Godber appeared at Bow Street Magistrates' Court on the 30th April 1974 before Mr. Barraclough and was remanded in custody to appear at that Court on
