MR LUI SUNG

1..

Earlier this month Mrs Elsie Elliott sent to Mr Blaker and "interested Members of Parliament" a copy of her letter about Lui Sung's case (copy enclosed). One MP, Mr James Johnson, sent his copy of the letter to the Secretary of State asking for comments.

2. You sent us in your Saving telegram no. 34 of 30 January, a detailed report on the case. I am writing now to ask if you would reply to Mrs Elliott, on behalf of Mr Blaker, along the lines of the reply that Mr Blaker has sent to Mr Johnson (copy enclosed). Perhaps in due course you would let us have a copy of your letter to Mrs Elliott.

3. You will see that we have suggested that Mr James Johnson might wish to look into the case during his forthcoming visit to Hong Kong. I am sorry if this is a nuisance, but direct consultation with you does often seem the best way of convincing MPs that they are not being hoodwinked.
