C. LIVING ENVIRONMENT

The Prisoner's family moved to live at a wooden hut at the roof-top of No. 525, Shun Ning Road, Kowloon since 20.8.1973, measured about 14 ft. x 7 ft. consisting of a bedroom and a kitchen. Above the kitchen was built a cockloft. Before his arrest, the Prisoner used to live at the cockloft and his mother and sister at the bedroom. After his offence, his father came out from Cheung Chau Island to live at the bedroom and his mother and sister at the cockloft.

The place

is only simply furnished, but with a television, a small re- frigerator and a fan. At the roof-top, there are altogether five wooden huts. The premises was situated near the So Uk Estates and Li Cheng Uk Estates.

Before they moved to the present residence, they had rented a room at No. 473, Castle Peak Road, 4/F., Flat A, Kowloon near to Kim Sim Lane for over two years. This area was very densely populated.

D. ASSOCIATES

Apart from his former colleagues, the Prisoner admitted his association with some gamblers and members of illegal triad society. He also admitted himself being a member of the said triad society since early 1973. Besides, he also knew some friends while playing at various billiard rooms and dancing halls.

E. THE DECEASED (According to (a) Madam LEE Kwei-fong, F/56, mother

of the deceased, and (b) Miss LUI Wai-yee, F/18, cohabitant of the deceased)

The Deceased (WOO Ming-sang) was born at his native place in Po On, Kwantung, China, and came to Hong Kong at the age of two. His father died five years ago. He has an elder half-sister (WOO Yung-yau) married and having six children. At present, his mother is living alone at a self-owned unnumbered wooden hut at Shatin Wai Village, Shatin, New Territories, while her married daughter was living nearby.

Having completed his primary six schooling in Shatin, the Deceased began the apprenticeship in cloth-printing at the age of thirteen and he had continued working in this trade for five years until he was dead.

Since October, 1972, he had cohabited with Miss LUI Wai-yee (of No. 408, Block 33, Sau Mou Ping Estate, Kowloon), F/18, a dancing hostess, who was treated by Madam LEE Kei-fong as her daughter-in- law. They rented a room and lived in town. According to Miss LUI, the Deceased had borrowed $300 from a friend sometime in 1972, and he was required to pay very high interest on the loan which he
