Having completed
came here when still a boy. He lived at Cheung Chau and
studied at the Cheung Chau Public School.
Primary 6, Your Petitioner, through the introduction of an
uncle, worked as an apprentice in the On Cheung Engineering
Factory at Fook Chuen Street, Taikoktsui, board and lodging
being provided by the factory. He was, however, keen to
continue to studies and after two years returned to Cheung
Chau and entered the Ng Yat English School as a Form 1
student. For the second and third years of middle school he
changed to St. Lukes English School in Hong Kong and later,
for Form 4, to the East West English School at Kowloon Tong.
During this final year of schooling he also worked part time
at the Hong Kong Textile Factory in Castle Peak Road to pay
for his own school fees and lessen the burden on his family
of which he was so soon to be the main supporter.
14. Your Petitioner deeply regrets the events that have
happened leading eventually to his playing a part in the
fight in which the said deceased died, and his death will
always be on Your Petitioner's conscience, even if Your
Excellency in Council spares Your Petitioner's life. Your
Petitioner knows that at least he will have to spend many
years in prison and promises not only to give no trouble
whilst he is in prison but also, if Your Excellency spares
his life, and if he is eventually released from prison, he
will devote the remainder of his life trying to compensate
for the wrong that he has done.

15. Your Petitioner therefore prays that Your Excellency
in Council will rescind the sentence of death passed on Your
