similarity or particularity of the pictures in the magazines in relation to the circumstances in which the body was found was not in my view so striking as to justify this obviously highly prejudicial evidence being admitted in evidence before the jury and I accordingly ruled it inadmissible. However, the fact of possession of magazines showing girls tied up in different positions and the circumstances in which the murdered girl was found is clearly some indication as to the prisoner's state of mind as being a sexuąl psychopath. However, although the prisoner was examined by at least one psychiatrist, no evidence was called by the defence as to his state of mind.

I find this an extremely difficult case in

favourable to the prisoner which were not relevant to the proceedings before the trial court and therefore unknown to me. But on the evidence given at the trial, assuming that the verdict of the jury that the accused

committed this murder was correct and that there was

adequate evidence to support the conviction, I regret

that I am unable to advance any reason as to why the law

should not take its course.
