The enclosed newspaper cutting from the S. c. Post is of much interest and concern to the people of Hong Kong. The press release points out the numerous errors in the books about the Colony of Hong Kong and the information provided in the said book is most inaccurate, misleading and notorious. Misunderstanding is most easily created and a false image will be established among the prospective investors of Hong Kong.
Owing to its geographical situation and political and economic delicacy, Hong Kong is a very sensitive area of the Commonwealth. Such complexities warrant the utmost
on the part of the authority to deal with affairs similar to the said publication. Confidence of investors in the Colony may be shaken, leading to serious damages and losses if such affairs are not handled appropriately.
In my personal capacity and in the capacity of a member of the Hong Kong community, I shall be most grate- ful if your goodself will do something to clarify the situation, especially during the present cloudy weather in the economic sector of Hong Kong. I also would like to appeal to the Members of Parliament of either Party or the candidates not to deviate from facts when the conditions of Hong Kong are under discussion. If facts are twisted SO as to please the electorates, Hong Kong will suffer a great deal.
I do believe that most of our people in Hong Kong love and support its Government. They will feel much concerned about any misrepresentation and falsifications.
