Other Rations

Cooking oil, pork, sugar and cloth are rationed.
National ration coupons issued through the Commune
authorities enable these commodities to be bought at the
fixed official rate.
Individual Income
35.
In addition to a rice ration, cash payments are
made to P.T. members in FU SHING Commune at the time of
the Autumn and Spring distributions when all team members
meet. The amount of cash received by a productive worker
is based on the value of work points earned and accumu –
lated during the period, as well as on the total cash accumulated through the sale of subsidiary crops or products collectively produced. The value of a work point varies from
team to team and depends on the factors which make the unit
rich or poor:
the fertility of soil, number of farm
implements and machinery, the number of draught cattle and
other resources managed by the team. The average value is in the region of R.M.B. 0.08 per point (R.M.B. 1 =
$2.53 HK). Recording of individual work points earned and the distribution of money is carried out by the responsible members of the team.
